Overview
The Insider is a food discovery and review app that helps users find restaurants, share dish reviews, and save places they want to revisit. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices available to users.
Data We Collect
Account information
We collect name, email address, and username at sign-up via Firebase Auth.
User content
We collect photos, dish reviews, restaurant visits, and saved lists that are uploaded and stored by the user.
Location
We request approximate location at runtime to center the food map. This location is not stored persistently.
Device identifiers
Firebase assigns anonymous identifiers for authentication and analytics purposes.
Usage data
App interactions are collected by Firebase Analytics, including crashes and feature usage.
Third-Party Services
Firebase (Google) is used for authentication, database, storage, and analytics.
Google Places API is used for restaurant search and restaurant data.
Google Maps is used for map display.
How We Use Data
We use collected information to create and manage accounts, store reviews and uploaded content, power restaurant search and maps, improve app stability, and understand how features are used so the product can be maintained and improved.
User Rights
Users can delete their account and all associated data by going to Profile > Settings > Delete Account.
Users can also contact darendavison35@gmail.com to request data deletion.
Data Practices
We do not sell user data.
We do not use data for advertising.
